Your fairy mug mother here, been muddy since day one.  I was raised by potters in the middle of nowhere northern Appalachia Ohio.  My family traveled to art shows selling their salt glazed wares with my little sister and I.  Never could have predicted that I would grow up to be a potter but the clay runs deep in these veins.  I opened Hillbippie Clay Co. out of my basement studio in 2016 and have been throwing pots since! When I say home thrown that's what I mean, these mugs are produced from my home and hopefully you can feel the love.  Also proud to be woman owned and now that doesn't mean I don't get help from friends and fam it just means I am the potter/designer/marketer/packer/hauler/glazer/etc.  I'm also privileged to not depend solely on my work, my husband is the county prosecutor.  People are often surprised I'm married to a lawyer but we got together when he worked at Red Lobster plus we go way back to the year 2000.  We love living up on a hill and growing tomatoes together and traveling around in our old school yellow camper.  My work has vacillated quite a bit in my time as a potter and I have yet to nail down a specific niche, I am multi-faceted after all, a beam of light if you will.  If you like snakes and mushrooms, flowers and bees, mother nature than my pots are for you.  I loved throwing in my basement like a true potter hermit but in 2020, the month before Covid shutdown, I opened a brick and mortar.  It was the cutest little store in Historic Roscoe Village, but the basement was calling my name.   Life again had other plans for my time and energy. We took in 2 little girls via kinship foster placement in 2021 and I stepped into the role of stay-at-home mom, truly the hardest job I've had to date.  It has shown me the power that we possess as woman and mothers and I'm forever grateful for the opportunity to guide these girls on their path.  Me and the girlies have a great time, and we just welcomed their baby sister. so now a family of 5 (whoa!!).  Having my pottery studio in our basement is ideal for life right now and I make as I can in between school drop off/pickups, hide and seek games, homework, nap times and the like.  Glad you stopped by and would love to see you stick around for more updates from the basement.  You can vibe with me on socials as long as they are allowed or better yet let me send you an email every now and again :) That way when I have mugs available, you'll be the first to know about it.  Love ~Ray
